Regarding the operational process of a CNC lathe, workpiece clamping is a crucial step. The standard level of clamping directly impacts the efficiency and quality of lathe machining. This is indeed evident. The stability of the workpiece is a significant indicator in machining data. Today, as a CNC lathe manufacturer, we will explain three key operational details of the workpiece clamping process for CNC lathes.
1. Select the appropriate fixture:
Select appropriate fixtures (three-jaw chuck, four-jaw chuck, spring chuck, special fixture, core shaft, etc.) based on the shape, size, and processing requirements of the workpiece to ensure accura positioning and reliable clamping.
Fixture accuracy: Regularly inspect the accuracy and wear of fixtures (such as chuck jaws and positioning surfaces).
2. Positioning reference:
The design process benchmark should coincide with the design benchmark as much as possible, or the conversion relationship should be clear.
Ensure that the positioning reference surface is clean, free of burrs, and undamaged during clamping.
For the secondary clamping of workpieces, it is necessary to ensure the alignment accuracy (using a dial gauge/micrometer to precisely align the machined surface or reference surface).
3. Clamping force control:
The clamping force should be sufficient to prevent the workpiece from moving, but it should not be too large to avoid elastic deformation of the workpiece (which may lead to dimensional deviation due to deformation recovery after processing).
Special attention should be paid to thin-walled parts, and liquid plastic fixtures or additional clamping points may be considered.
The above are the three major operational details of the workpiece clamping process for CNC lathes, collated and published by us, Haishu Machinery, a CNC lathe manufacturer. We hope the explanations above will be of some help to everyone when operating CNC lathes in the future.
